Hello, this is Sébastien!

I am Sébastien Lemieux, an associate professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the Université de Montréal and an associate academic member at Mila. My background spans both biology (BSc 97) and computer science (MSc 98, PhD 02), equipping me with a solid foundation at the boundary between molecular biology and computer science. I did my postdoc in a biotech (Elitra Pharmaceuticals) and worked as a consultant for pharmas (Merck & Co, PainCeptor Pharma, Domain Therapeutics).

As a principal investigator at IRIC, my primary focus is on the development of deep learning models and Bayesian frameworks for applications such as drug discovery, cancer prognosis, interpretation and integration of -omics data. My work specifically targets challenges in cell-based chemical screens, acute myeloid leukemia and targeted immunotherapy. My interdisciplinary approach reflects my commitment to pushing the boundaries of bioinformatics, leveraging a variety of data sources, technical methodologies, and applications to advance our understanding and treatment of cancer.
