Bio

I'm a second-year PhD student at Mila, supervised by Prof. Jian Tang. My research focuses on representation learning for biological data, to harness AI's potential to advance understanding of biological systems and processes, with a particular emphasis on scalability and transferability.

From the technique perspective, I have solid experience in large-scale graph representation learning for knowledge graph completion, and pre-training, transfer learning, and multi-modality learning with language models for biological data. In particular, knowledge graphs serve as an important bridge to connect all the different data modalities in biological domain. In the same time, language models serve as foundational tools for each data modality, to extract effective representations and infer latent patterns and deep structure that go well beyond the capacity of humans.

I also spent some time in Intel AI Lab. I obtained a bachelors' degree in computer science from Peking University.

Personal motto: "I believe in 3 enemies of success. The first is the comfort zone which most people find reasons not to change, even if the change can be beneficial. The second is learned helplessness, where people feel they cannot do something. And the third is the path of least resistance, where people tend to look for an easy way to achieve a result but nothing worthwhile can be achieved easily"
